I’m so glad we did! Manfred and Shankar were incredibly warm, genuine and welcoming from the moment we reached their store. We ordered the Breakfast Set, which came with a drink, a toast and two soft-boiled eggs. For our drinks, we had a Spanish Latte and a hot Teh-O. For the toasts, we chose the Royal Kaya Butter and the Gula Melaka Peanut Butter. The sourdough was exactly how good sourdough should be, crispy and well-toasted on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. Both spreads were delicious in their own way. The Royal Kaya Butter was rich and comforting, while the Gula Melaka Peanut Butter struck a great balance of nuttiness and caramel-like sweetness. Paired with the perfectly cooked eggs mixed with shallots, it made for a simple yet incredibly satisfying breakfast. It’s always refreshing to find cafés that not only serve great food but also genuinely care about the customer experience. We’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend giving Genista Ln a visit if you’re looking for a quality local breakfast with a modern twist. We had the kaya-butter toast on shokupan, soft-boiled eggs with shallots, kopi C, and the Spanish Latte. They have been very thoughtful in their efforts to elevate these humble breakfast items. They make their own delicious kaya and the addition of fried shallots to the soft-boiled eggs adds flavor and texture. What I found most unique was there application of modern barista techniques to the robusta bean. Coming from the US, where we almost exclusively drink coffee derived from arabica, I found the flavors to be strong and bright. I absolutely loved it. But what stood out most about this place was the people. You could tell that they were all close friends and were passionate about what they were doing. We unintentionally spent half an hour chatting with them while we enjoyed our coffee and food. It was the highlight of our morning and the reason we often return to Singapore. Got the kaya butter shokupan for takeaway—simple but so good. The spot’s tucked inside CT Hub, pretty strategic and easy to reach. They’ve got solid breakfast options and the coffee hits the spot too. If you’re dining in, they’ve got some portable tables and chairs outside—nothing fancy, but perfect for a quick chill breakfast vibe. Fried shallots in the eggs was a tasty addition. Staff was super friendly and helpful. So many of our guests complimented it!!! But beyond the coffee, what really, really stood out was their kindness and genuine hospitality. They are such warm, generous people with the biggest hearts. You can truly tell that they put their 100% into everything they do 🥹🥹 They went above and beyond for us and made our day even more special. We can't be more thankful for their help.
